Girl Scout Interest Projects and Badge Program

While most people know the Louisiana Renaissance Festival as a fun and exciting weekend event, most people don't know the high level of community service opportunities that we offer. We have been working with Kevin Shipp and Allison Pastor at the Girl Scout Council to determine how we can use our resources to help Girl Scouts accomplish some specific merit badge opportunities.

For additional information on any of these programs, please contact Rick Hight at Rick@larf.org or call 985-429-9992.

The Junior and Brownie training classes are held once a year at the Renaissance Festival site. Training is $10 per Girl Scout, with no charge for Leaders and parents who would like to attend. The next workshops are anticipated to be scheduled in Fall of 2009.

For Juniors

We are inviting you to join our cast members at one of our cast training workshops where we will cover all of the items needed for the "Theater" badge. Our cast specializes in “Improv”, which is acting without a script. Our cast receives more than 50 hours of training each year, and many of them are ‘On Stage’ each year during our show for more than 100 hours.

This section of our workshop is open to all ages, but is targeted towards the Junior Girl Scout badges. The cost for the workshop is $10 per girl and reservations must be made in advance. Each girl will receive a ticket to the Renaissance Festival in November so they can fulfill the “See It Live” requirement. We will have a limited number of slots available, so early registration is highly recommended.

3. Act It Out.
4. Louder, Please!
5. Tongue Twisters.

We may be adding more, so check back here later for more details!

For Seniors

We will offer training for the Artistic Crafts Interest Project on any regular festival day. We have professional artists that deal with wool spinning, leather work, candle making, woodworking and jewelry. Depending on the medium you select this project may take place during a regular festival weekend or during the week. For additional information on our Senior program please email Rick@larf.org
