Wine and Whisky Tasting at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival

Wine tasting will again be a feature of the Faire, with Madame Ghislaine de Rouen (she's FRENCH, you know!) leading novice tasters and experienced connoisseurs through a tasting of 8 premium wines, accompanied by fruit, cheese and bread, all for $50 a person, including admission to the Faire and a souvenir glass.

As always, Madame serves outstanding and unusual wines, including a sparkling wine to start, three whites, three reds and a dessert wine or spirit. And, as always, there’s a little something extra at the end!

For 2008, Madame has announced the following schedule:
November 1 and 2 Old World Wines, featuring Italian and Hungarian wines
November 8 and 9 New World Wines, featuring North and South American wines
November 15 and 16 European Wines, featuring Wines from France
November 22 and 23 Pacific Rim wines, featuring wines from Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania
November 29 and 30 Old World Wines, featuring Spanish wines
December 6 and 7 Taster’s Favorites, featuring the wines that guests enjoyed the most all year

All tastings will include special guest performances by faire favorites such as Vince Conaway, Owain Phyfe and others, with a likely special appearance by Her Majesty!

Whiskey Tastings

Madame doesn’t know much about whisky, but Bonnie MacKinlay does! Join Madame and Bonnie as they explore the tastes of the “Water of Life.” One ounce servings of three Scotch whiskies and one Irish whiskey will be featured on SATURDAYS ONLY at 3:30 PM. Again, faire entertainers will join us to celebrate the complexities and joys of uisge-beatha! Whisky tasting costs $20 per person NOT including admission to the Faire.
PLEASE NOTE: Wine and whisky tasting limited to patrons age 21 years and older, and ID will be required. Management reserves the right to NOT serve any person appearing to be intoxicated, and to suspend service should a patron appear to become so.
